Bat & Butterfly Harmonic Patterns
Two more XABCD ratio families, one completing inside the original swing, the other stretching past it, both defined entirely by where point B lands on the way down.

A fresh X-to-A leg generates on the chart. Pick which family you are testing for, Bat or Butterfly, then drag the single slider to place point B anywhere along that leg. Both gauges update live off the same real retracement ratio, since a placement that helps one family's reading hurts the other's. Land inside the active family's own band and you can lock B in, the tool places C and D with that family's real completion math and plays price forward from D.

How it works
- A family toggle switches which Fibonacci rule is active, Bat or Butterfly. Each family only cares about one thing at this stage, where B sits as a retracement of the X-to-A leg.
- One slider drags point B up and down that real leg. Two gauges score how close the current placement sits to each family's own valid band at the same time, so you can watch one gauge climb while the other falls as you drag.
- Once B lands inside the active family's band, lock it in. The tool places C and D using that family's real completion math, Bat finishes inside the original XA range, Butterfly extends past X.
- Price then plays forward from D to show whether it actually reversed in the completion zone, and the result gets tallied into that family's own running record.
Where this breaks
A matched ratio is a geometry check, not a reversal guarantee
Locking B into a valid Bat or Butterfly band and watching C and D land exactly where the math says they should only confirms that the price swing fits the shape. It says nothing about whether buyers or sellers actually show up at D. The hold-rate table on this page is built to stay honest about that: a real share of technically valid completions in both rows should still fail to reverse, not settle near a perfect hit rate. Butterfly completions in particular sit beyond the original X point, in territory the earlier swing never even traded, which is exactly why they tend to hold less reliably than a Bat completion that at least stays inside ground the market has already covered.
