How many times has an option I sold been assigned early, and what has it cost me?
Set Your Tracking Period
Set this once at the start of your tracking period. Logging an assignment on the right resets your running log for a new period.
Your Result
Set your tolerance on the left to start logging early assignments as they happen.
How this is calculated
Early assignment can happen on a short option before expiration, most commonly on an in-the-money call right before an ex-dividend date, or on a deep in-the-money option close to expiration.
Logging the dollar cost each time it happens, such as unexpected margin interest, an unplanned stock position, or a wider bid-ask spread on the unwind, builds an actual record instead of a vague sense that this happens often.
This tracker resets when you set a new tracking period. Note your running total elsewhere if you want a permanent record.
Use it alongside the early assignment risk checklist below to catch the risk before it becomes a logged cost.
