Trading Tools Comparison

Should I use a free calculator or TraderLion's growth-stock education platform?

TraderLion also publishes one free position size calculator, but that's not the product. Here's how a free calculator library and a paid trading-education platform actually compare.

TradingHabits and TraderLion aren't built to do the same job. TraderLion is a trading-education company built around growth-stock and momentum swing trading: paid video masterclasses taught by named traders (including past US Investing Championship competitors), paid weekly research reports, a partnership with the Deepvue charting platform, an annual trading conference, and a large trader community built over several years. TradingHabits is a free library of narrow, single-purpose calculators: type in your own numbers and get one answer, like a position size or a pip value, with no course, no community, and no account attached.

Worth noting directly: TraderLion also publishes one free, standalone position size calculator on its own site, aimed at stock traders sizing shares from an account balance, a risk amount, and a stop level, with an optional live-quote lookup. That calculator sits outside TraderLion's paid courses and reports and functions as a way to bring traders to the site, it isn't the education platform itself. TraderLion's course and report pricing is handled through its own checkout flow and isn't published as a single site-wide price list, so no dollar figures are compared below, unlike some of the other comparisons on this page where a public price list exists.

What Each One Actually Does Well

Where TradingHabits fits

  • You want one number, fast, and don't want to create an account or watch a course to get it.
  • You already have a trading approach and just need the math checked: position size, pip value, margin, a Greek.
  • You'd rather type your own numbers in than pay for a course or report you'd use for one calculation.
  • You're sizing a futures or forex position, which TraderLion's single stock-oriented calculator doesn't cover.

Where TraderLion fits

  • You want to learn a specific methodology, like growth-stock or momentum swing trading, from traders who've competed at that level.
  • You want structured video lessons and historical case studies rather than a single number.
  • You want an ongoing weekly research report to follow markets between your own trades.
  • You're willing to pay for a course, report subscription, or the community and mentorship that comes with them.

Using Both

These aren't mutually exclusive. A trader could work through a TraderLion masterclass to build a methodology, then check the actual position size, risk/reward, or margin math on a specific trade with a TradingHabits calculator before placing it. The calculators here don't store anything or require an account precisely so they can sit in that quick, pre-trade moment without adding another login to a decision that just needs a number.
