Trading Tools Comparison
TraderLion also publishes one free position size calculator, but that's not the product. Here's how a free calculator library and a paid trading-education platform actually compare.
TradingHabits and TraderLion aren't built to do the same job. TraderLion is a trading-education company built around growth-stock and momentum swing trading: paid video masterclasses taught by named traders (including past US Investing Championship competitors), paid weekly research reports, a partnership with the Deepvue charting platform, an annual trading conference, and a large trader community built over several years. TradingHabits is a free library of narrow, single-purpose calculators: type in your own numbers and get one answer, like a position size or a pip value, with no course, no community, and no account attached.
Worth noting directly: TraderLion also publishes one free, standalone position size calculator on its own site, aimed at stock traders sizing shares from an account balance, a risk amount, and a stop level, with an optional live-quote lookup. That calculator sits outside TraderLion's paid courses and reports and functions as a way to bring traders to the site, it isn't the education platform itself. TraderLion's course and report pricing is handled through its own checkout flow and isn't published as a single site-wide price list, so no dollar figures are compared below, unlike some of the other comparisons on this page where a public price list exists.
| TradingHabits | TraderLion | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, all calculators | Individually priced paid masterclasses and paid weekly research reports; pricing is shown at checkout rather than published as a single list. Blog content, a free trading guide opt-in, and the annual conference are free |
| Signup required | No account, no email, no login, for any calculator | Account required to enroll in a masterclass or subscribe to a paid report; the standalone position size calculator doesn't require an account to view |
| What it's for | Answering a specific pre-trade math question: position size, risk/reward, pip value, options Greeks, drawdown, futures margin, and similar | Learning a specific trading methodology (growth-stock and momentum swing trading) through video courses, market-history study, and ongoing research reports |
| Core product | None. This is a calculator library, not an education platform | Video masterclasses and weekly research/newsletter-style reports written by named traders, plus a charting-platform partnership |
| Free calculators | Entire site: 300+ calculators across stocks, options, futures, forex, and crypto | One standalone position size calculator for stocks, published as a free lead tool separate from the paid courses and reports |
| Best for | A quick, one-off calculation you want an answer to right now, without creating an account or watching a course | Studying a specific trading approach in depth, with structured lessons, historical case studies, and ongoing market commentary from named traders |
These aren't mutually exclusive. A trader could work through a TraderLion masterclass to build a methodology, then check the actual position size, risk/reward, or margin math on a specific trade with a TradingHabits calculator before placing it. The calculators here don't store anything or require an account precisely so they can sit in that quick, pre-trade moment without adding another login to a decision that just needs a number.
