How this is calculated
Modeled dollar loss equals your position value (shares multiplied by entry price) multiplied by the adverse move percentage you enter.
Without a stop-loss order, your loss on a trade is capped only by how far you personally decide to let it fall, or by your own emotional breaking point, not by a predetermined price.
This tool models what a specific decline would cost you in dollars. It does not predict whether that decline will happen or how far a stock can actually move.
If you enter your planned stop-loss distance, the tool shows the extra dollar risk you're carrying compared to trading with a defined stop.
A long stock position can fall all the way to zero. A short position carries theoretically unlimited risk to the upside. There is no floor on how large an unprotected loss can get.
Risk & liability disclaimer: This calculator produces a mathematical estimate based on the numbers you enter. It is not financial advice and does not guarantee any trading outcome. Trading involves risk of loss, and a stock can move further than any percentage modeled here.
