How this is calculated
Pips at risk is the absolute difference between your entry price and stop-loss price, divided by the pip size for that pair (0.0001 for most pairs, 0.01 for JPY-quoted pairs). Pips of reward uses the same formula against your target price.
The risk/reward ratio is pips of reward divided by pips at risk. A 2.5 reading means your target is 2.5 times farther away than your stop, in pips, not a guarantee the trade will hit either level.
If you enter a position size, pip value in USD uses the same convention as our other forex calculators: pip size times units when USD is the quote currency, or pip size times units divided by the exchange rate when USD is the base currency. Dollar risk and dollar reward are each pip count multiplied by that pip value.
Direction (long or short) only affects which side of your entry price the stop and target need to sit on for the numbers to make sense; it doesn't change the pip math itself.
This goes a step further than our stop-loss risk calculator, which only measures the risk side. Use this one once you also have a target price in mind.
