How much does holding this forex position overnight actually cost me in swap or rollover fees?

Enter Your Position

Standard lot = 1.0. Mini lot = 0.1. Micro lot = 0.01.

Enter it exactly as your broker's platform shows it for long or short, whichever direction you hold. Negative means you pay, positive means you're paid.

Most forex brokers charge triple swap one night a week, commonly Wednesday, to account for weekend settlement. Check your broker's actual schedule, it isn't always Wednesday.

How this is calculated

  • Swap (also called rollover) is charged or credited once per night a forex position stays open past the broker's daily rollover time, based on the interest rate differential between the two currencies.
  • This tool multiplies your lot size by the swap rate you enter and the number of nights held. It does not look up live swap rates, since those change with interest rate policy and differ by broker.
  • Most brokers charge a triple swap one night a week to account for weekend settlement, since banks don't settle trades on Saturday or Sunday. Confirm which day your broker uses, it isn't universal.
  • A position with a swap cost that's large relative to its expected profit target is a genuine drag on a multi-day forex trade, and worth checking before you hold something over several nights, not after.
