How this is calculated
This tool covers long calls and long puts, where your maximum possible loss on each position is the total premium you paid. It doesn't apply to short or naked options, where the max loss can be far larger than the premium collected.
Total premium at risk is the sum of premium paid per contract times 100 shares per contract, times contracts, added up across every position you log.
Percent of account is your total premium at risk divided by the account size you entered. Many traders cap total options premium at risk somewhere in the range of 5% to 15% of account value, though the right number depends on your own risk tolerance and how concentrated the expirations are.
This tool assumes standard equity option contracts covering 100 shares each. If any position uses an adjusted contract size, adjust your inputs to match before logging it.
