How this is calculated
Total notional exposure = stock position value + options notional exposure + futures notional exposure, added together across every account.
Combined leverage ratio = total notional exposure ÷ total account equity. A ratio of 1.0x means your total market exposure equals your actual capital, with no added leverage.
Traders often check leverage one account or one instrument at a time and miss that stock margin, options notional, and futures notional all draw on the same underlying capital and the same ability to absorb a loss.
The tiers used here (conservative, moderate, aggressive, extreme) are general educational reference points, not a regulatory standard or a claim about what leverage is "safe" for you specifically. Your actual risk also depends on volatility, correlation between positions, and how much of that notional is actually at risk versus hedged.
Options notional is a rough measure of exposure, not a measure of the actual capital at risk, since a long option's maximum loss is capped at the premium paid.
