What happens when a stock hits its LULD band?

If the price does not move back inside the band within 15 seconds, the primary listing exchange declares a trading pause of approximately 5 minutes across all markets trading that security.

How this is calculated

For stocks priced at $3.00 or more: Tier 1 uses a 5% band, Tier 2 uses a 10% band.
For stocks priced between $0.75 and $3.00: both tiers use a 20% band.
For stocks priced below $0.75: both tiers use the lesser of 75% or $0.15.
Between 3:35pm and 4:00pm ET, the percentage bands double for all Tier 1 securities, and for Tier 2 securities priced at $3.00 or below.
If the price stays outside the band and does not return within it within 15 seconds, the primary listing exchange declares a trading pause of 5 minutes across all markets in that security.
This tool applies the published LULD Plan percentage tiers to the price and tier you select. It does not know a stock's live reference price, which resets every 30 seconds off a rolling 5-minute average, or whether a pause is currently active.
