How this is calculated

• SEC Rule 201 of Regulation SHO (the "alternative uptick rule") is triggered when an NMS stock's price falls 10% or more from the prior day's official closing price on its listing market.
• Trigger price = previous close × 0.90. Once the stock trades at or below that price, the circuit breaker is tripped for the rest of that trading day and for the following trading day.
• While the circuit breaker is active, short sale orders generally cannot be executed or displayed at a price at or below the current national best bid. New short sales are effectively restricted to prices above the best bid until the restriction lifts.
• The rule applies to short selling, not to closing out or exiting an existing long position, and it generally does not apply to options.
