How this is calculated
This is the mathematical inverse of asking what win rate a strategy needs for a given risk/reward. Here you start from your actual win rate and solve for the reward multiple needed to avoid losing money over time.
Formula used: required R equals one minus your win rate as a decimal, plus any added cost fraction, divided by your win rate as a decimal.
The optional cost input treats commissions and slippage as a percentage of your risk amount per trade, and raises the required ratio accordingly.
This is a breakeven threshold, not a profit target. An actual edge means beating this number consistently, not just meeting it.
Risk & liability disclaimer: This calculator solves a breakeven equation using the win rate and cost inputs you provide. It does not predict your actual future win rate or trading costs.
