How this is calculated
Distance equals the current price minus the VWMA value, shown in dollars and as a percent of the VWMA.
A volume-weighted moving average weights each period's price by its volume, so it reacts more to heavy-volume sessions than a simple or exponential moving average built from price alone.
If you provide an ATR value, the tool also shows the distance in ATR multiples, a rough way to judge whether the current extension is small or unusual for this stock's typical daily range.
Trading far from the VWMA is not automatically a sell signal or a reversal signal. Trending stocks can stay extended from any moving average for a long stretch.
This tool only compares the two numbers you enter. It does not calculate VWMA itself from raw price and volume data.
