How this is calculated
%B measures where price sits relative to the bands: price minus the lower band, divided by the upper band minus the lower band, shown as a percentage. 0% sits on the lower band, 100% sits on the upper band, and readings can go below 0% or above 100% when price closes outside the bands.
Bandwidth, shown if you enter a middle band, equals the upper band minus the lower band, divided by the middle band. It reflects how wide the bands currently are relative to this stock's own recent range, not a fixed universal number.
This tool does not calculate the bands for you. Pull the current upper band, lower band, and middle band from your charting platform. The common default setting is a 20-period simple moving average with bands set 2 standard deviations away, though your platform may use different settings.
A %B reading describes where price is right now. It does not predict whether the stock will reverse, break out, or keep moving in the same direction.
