How is this calculated?

The histogram is the MACD line minus the signal line. If the current bar is farther from zero than the previous bar in the same direction, momentum is strengthening. If it is closer to zero, momentum is weakening. If the sign flipped between bars, the MACD line crossed the signal line.

How this is calculated

The histogram is the MACD line minus the signal line. Above zero means the MACD line is above the signal line (bullish bias); below zero means the opposite (bearish bias).
"Strengthening" means the histogram bar is farther from zero than the previous bar, in the same direction. "Weakening" means it's closer to zero than the previous bar, even if it hasn't crossed yet.
A weakening histogram while price is still climbing (or falling) is a common early hint that momentum is fading ahead of price, sometimes called bearish or bullish divergence, though this tool only measures the histogram itself, not price.
A zero-line cross means the MACD line crossed the signal line between the two bars you entered, a bigger shift than a normal strengthen/weaken read.
This is a descriptive read of momentum that already happened. It does not predict where price goes next.
