How this is calculated
Modeled dollar exposure equals your position value (shares multiplied by current price) multiplied by the overnight move percentage you enter.
A stop-loss order only protects you during regular trading hours when the market is open and can actually fill your order at or near your chosen price.
Holding a position overnight, or through an earnings release, an economic report, or other closed-market event, exposes you to a price move that can open significantly away from where you last saw it, with no chance to exit at your intended stop level.
This tool models a hypothetical overnight move as a percentage of the current price. It does not predict the size or direction of any actual overnight move.
Consider sizing positions you plan to hold overnight more conservatively than positions you can watch and manage during the trading session.
